Students from College of the Canyons Youth Summer Camp: Nuts, Bolts and Thingamajigs visited DrinkPAK

DrinkPAK hosted 50 students from College of the Canyons Youth Summer Camp: Nuts, Bolts, and Thingamajigs. The visitors participated in a tour of DrinkPAK’s highly automated production facility, mock quality tests in the lab, and an information session on careers in manufacturing.

The sophomore to senior high school students got a behind-the-scenes look at how some of their favorite drinks go from empty cans to a pallet of finished goods. Through a guided tour, they explored the advanced manufacturing facility with three high-speed production lines that yield up to 2,000 cans per minute. To better understand the role science plays in making a refreshing beverage, the guests also engaged in a sensory test analyzing the taste, odor, and appearance of concentrated syrup. They also conducted a Brix reading to ensure the syrup was within the specifications. In addition to learning about the overall production and quality process, students learned about the various career paths in manufacturing. In addition, with the shortage of skilled tradespeople, DrinkPAK employees shared the many career paths at DrinkPAK. Whether pursuing a degree at a four-year university or a trade school/college, the opportunities are endless.

DrinkPAK currently employs 480 people across six buildings in Santa Clarita, with a total footprint of more than one million square feet. Employees are offered a 100% paid medical, dental, and vision insurance plan among other rich benefits.
